In 2020, I started my podcast – which hopefully now would be one of a few. I didn’t know I could get some few bucks from advertisements and sponsors till I reached 1k listens. At the time of this writing, the podcast is now over 3k listens. To many, it’s not a lot – but to me, it is huge progress within a year. One of the techies I looked up to once said he didn’t get any listens on his podcast apart from himself for the first few months (now he’s at it for over 13 years), so I know I’m setup for success.

In 2020 also, I decide to start livestreaming and it turned out that I produced more content than in all the previous years combined. I reached 1k subscribers and luckily got into the YouTube Partner Program early 2021.

In 2020 also, I started unboxing some of the new gears I acquired, turned out it got noticed and Maono asked me to review some of their microphones. One of the best feelings I had in 2020 was this – aside becoming a father.

Many of the impactful things I have done in my life were things I “just started”, it wasn’t until after I saw the impact that I started planning it out.

Why am I saying all this, if you want to do anything, JUST START. JUST DO IT.

Your future self will thank you.

  1. Thank you so much for this piece. It really spoke to me . I have been wanting to leave my job and start a thing of my own and yesterday I resigned and decided to begin my thing securely. I’m so relieved

  2. Thanks Dara. I’ve been following you closely since you spoke at the MCT conference. Thanks for all you do. I’m highly motivated to start out.
